Planning half my wedding in 3 weeks: Pictures are worth a 1000 words.

Dress = Check.
Photography = next up.

For our engagement pictures, I asked one of my bridesmaids, Callie Hanes take pictures for us in exchange for a donation to her trip to Israel this past May. We had a blast romping around her cousin's farm- here's one of my favorites from the shoot (the rest are at the bottom):

The next giant to tackle was getting a wedding photographer for our wedding.

Ok, ok, I confess-- I actually did quite a lot of research on this one prior to my trip back to Georgia. Mainly because this is one of those few things that make a difference for years (decades) after your big day.

My main qualifications for potential photographers were:

1. I wanted 2 photographers (main shooter & assistant shooter)
2. Prior experience at The Carl House

The first thing I had to do in this process was find out how much wedding photography actually cost these days and then figure out how much we were going to pay! In order to do this, I emailed upwards of 20-25 different photographers who met those qualifications asking them for pricing on their packages.

In case you are not in the know (I definitely wasn't), the low end of hiring a main photographer & a back up shooter is around $1,500. Average is about $2,500 and the high end is $3,500+.

Since everyone offered different options in their packages, it was a little tough to keep up with. Thus, the spreadsheet came into the making. If anyone reading this wants to get married at The Carl House (or just get married) in the near future, you are welcome. Check it out--

So... maybe that was a little overkill... but helpful! Once I narrowed it down based on packages & their shooting style (aka photo blog stalking), I set up meetings. I think that McCray & I probably met with 5+ photographers in 48 hours. It was impressive.

One of the biggest things that I learned was that you've gotta pick a photographer with the personality that works for you. McCray and I ended up landing on Lauren Wright Payne. We loved our time chatting with her & I loved her shooting style! I can't wait to get to know her better on our big day!

More engagement pics from Callie Hanes!
